Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does the electrified mortise lock require special modifications to the door?

A: The mortise body will fit in a ANSI standard mortise lock pocket. The dust box mounted on the door jamb side is an ANSI standard dust box.

2. Is there any special hardware required to operate the electrified mortise lock?

A: Other than a 12 or 24 volt power supply no special hardware is required. Because power is passed through contacts located in the supplied dust box to contacts on the latch of the electrified mortise lock, coring of the door and an electrified hinge are not required.

Troubleshooting

1. The electrified mortise lock does not operate.

  • Check that 12 or 24 volts is being supplied to the dustbox contacts. If using 12 or 24 VAC make sure the supplied rectifier is connected to the appropriate dust box wires.

  • Check the alignment of the dust box contacts with the lock latchbolt contacts. Remove the dustbox from behind the strike plate and place dust box contacts directly onto latchbolt contacts.

  • Check the mortise lock pocket for wood chips or other material that is binding the locking slide. Check the trim for excessive tightness of the screws holding the inner and outer trim together.
